I love these lyrics by David Crowder – who looks like he might be. (=
Intoxicating You are to me
Illuminating You are to see
Truly breathtaking You are to breathe
Sending my head spinning You are, You see
And I’ve lost my mind, I’m sure to find
Need to apologize for my
Lack of inhibition, for my belligerent condition
But with You this near I’m dizzy
Inebriating You are to me
Completely captivating You are to see
Sending my world spinning You are, You see
And now I find a blurry line
Here between You and I
Raise the cup, drink ’til I’m full
Sing ’til I can’t, ’til my voice is gone
And my head is spinning
La, la dee da
La dee da, dee da
Dee da da da
Hey la, la dee da La dee da, dee da
Dee da da da
If I’m out of my mind it’s You, You
‘Cause I’m crazy in love with You, You
Inebriated by You, You
‘Cause I’m head over heels with You, You
WHY JOLIET? WHY MOVE? WHY DO SOMETHING SO CRAZY? WHY MOVE YOUR FAMILY WITH NO PROMISED JOB?
OK. I’m drunk. I’m in a stupor and overtaken by His grace and dreams for me and my family.
“Authentic holy fools didn’t aim at a cutting-edge lifestyle; they merely embarked on a journey with Jesus — and they allowed it to change everything. They drank in the pure gospel long enough for it to permanently alter their brains. The gospel threw them off balance; it made them drunk with God until they staggered with a holy passion. They became extremists, but theirs was an extremism of love, an immoderate, extraordinary, uncalculated pursuit of love for God and their neighbors.” from Holy Fools by Matthew Woodley
My brain has been altered and there’s no turning back. If I slip and fall I’ll stagger back up and keep on walking. He knows the way. Everything is blurry now . . . BUT . . . He puts my arm around his shoulders. He’ll help me take the next step. All I know is . . . He loves me, He told me to go, He told me to love, and He said don’t wait. He will lead me to my house and help me get a job to put food on the table and care for my family.
Please don’t tell me I need to sober up. Don’t make me drink that cup of Christian complacency. I want to stay this way. I want to experience everything He has in store for us. Let me stay in the “way” and be drunk in love for I’ve had an inebriated illumination of what it is to live in complete abandon
and I LIKE IT.
